basketball

Here is one advantage to Neil's height! Neil and the boys played basketball one afternoon. Mark loved Neil lifting him up to shoot the basket! Mitchell was a little hesitant! I think it looks like lots of fun!

new curtains

This has nothing to do with Valentine's Day, but I have been meaning to put the pics of the latest decorating project that has been completed in the Roberts home, and I finally have time today.

This is our master bedroom. I feel kind of creepy putting pics of our personal space for all to see, but, I designed and made the curtains myself to match the bedspread, which I purchased, so I am pretty proud of them. I had a post this summer about a rude fabric guy who explained that manufactured products will never match the current fabric selections due to the fact that manufacturing takes a year or two to get the product out to market so the fabric used is "old". So, I had quite an interesting time finding fabric to match the "old" bedspread that I had just purchased! Here are the results!

Below is the bedroom when we purchased the house.
Tarheel blue is what we called it!

Snow sledding?

These are from the ice storm a few weeks ago. Neil took the boys out for a ride in the recycle bin. They had a great time until their last trip up the driveway. They took a sharp turn under the b-ball goal and tumbled out! I had the camera ready, and almost took a pic of the mis-hap, but thought I might be voted as worst mom of the year for exploiting my sons' accidents! Mitchell ended up with some "road rash" on his face, but we were stuck inside for so long, it cleared up before he could show it off to any of his friends!

The bottom left pic is just seconds before the wipeout, and in the one on the right, if you look really close, you can see Mitchell's mark of bravery on his upper cheek!

happenings

Mitchell, with the help of his daddy, stuck a band-aid on his head one night and refused to take it off! It hurt when we tried to pull it off so he would make up some excuse to wear the band-aid longer, "I want Avery and Camdyn to see it", " I want to show it to my friends at church", "I like the band-aid there". Finally, after a few days of teasing and coaxing, I finally just stuck my finger under the padding and started ripping! Not a very nice thing to do, but it did the trick with just a little crying. He has not stuck anything to his head since!

I got a waffle maker and this is a pic of my first waffle! Looks tasty, huh? I was a little disappointed at first, but I have figured out the settings and now can make a tasty waffle (that comes out in one piece)!

During all of the snowy days we set up Mitchell's tent and tunnel to play with. Mark convinced Neil to crawl through the tunnel! Well, we will call it crawling! Neil's quote, "Take a picture of this because you won't see it again!"

Joy came to play last week, and we bundled up and went outside! The boys got new trikes for Chirstmas! Mitchell's new trick is pulling the wagon behind his tryke. His first method of towing was to sit on the handle of the wagon while sitting on the tryke seat to pull the wagon. I can not imagine what this felt like, but he did it a few times! He did not ask for help, but out of pitty and to save the seat from more sctatches, I found some rope and tied the wagon to the tryke! I think it works better! Aren't they cute all lined up there watching a movie!
