Mitchell's Birthday was the Saturday before Easter. We had the party at a park. It was a great day and a great party, except the minor blunder of the park pavilion being reserved for a church egg hunt at the same time. (Yes, I did call ahead to the parks and rec office, and there are apparently two parks with the same name. The other one apparently was not reserved!) They kindly let us stay in the pavilion for 30 minutes so we could make ice cream sundays and sing "Happy Birthday". Then each kid grabbed their bowl of ice cream and headed off to finish the party "picnic style" on blankets that my sis luckily had in her car! Surprisingly, it was a really good party! Just telling the story makes my stomach hurt though! It was slightly traumatic! I am learning the hard way to be flexible! The day before the party our air conditioner in our house broke and we were going to be gone, for the party, during the time they could come and fix it, and we were having Neil's grandma and friend stay with us, and we were hosting an Easter lunch on Sunday! (Did I mention we are selling the house in two weeks? Couldn't this have waited for the new owners and the home warranty we purchased for them?) The repair man had pity on me and pulled another guy off a job so we could have the repair done the same day and save 400 dollars since it would not be done on a Saturday! Praise God for working that out! So the party locale switch was just water under bridge! One really great thing about this party is that all four members of our family were in attendance, unlike Mark's 1st birthday that Neil and Mitchell missed since Mitchell was in the hospital! The party was a Wiggles theme, which Mitchell chose himself. The only fun event I could think of to go with the Wiggles was to buy a Wiggles CD and let the kids listen to it during the party! Woo-Hoo! We did have fruit salad, though (before one of the kids knocked it over and spilled it on the ground!) Mitchell and Charlie were the only two who broke out did the Captain Feathersword dance! It was really cute!
