Hamptons

I made this slideshow the day after we got back from our trip and forgot that I did not actually put it on our blog! So here it is!

We had a great time. Hurricane Hanna hit the coast on Saturday so the wedding was moved from the lighthouse to the friend's home where the reception was. I only got one pic of the wedding before my camera battery ran out and the charger was in the hotel! It rained druing the reception. While all weahter reports were encouraging people to stay indoors, we were eating dinner outside under large white tents! The rain was blowing in the sides and the service staff was drenched by the end of the night.
Saturday before the wedding we had time to sightsee. We took what we thought was a small path to a scenic outlook of the lighthouse. It was really a long hike through dense brush to a swamp area with a rope swing and a capmfire area. I laughed the whole time! The parking lot where we started the hike was really the overlook area!
We drove to the lighthouse, but it was closed due to the weather so we walked out to the beach area and rocks and stood on the point of Long Island.
We went to Ditch Plains beach in the foggy weather on Saturday too and walked on the beach.
The only problem was we were not wearing bathing suits. Neil was wearing jeans and new leather sandals. We were surprised by a few large waves and ended up both getting pretty wet from the thighs down! Then lunch and the wedding.
Sunday the weather was much better. We loaded up, had breakfast with some friends, and headed back down the coast toward "the City". New York City that is. We stopped at Gibson Beach which was described as one of the most beautiful beaches in the country in a tour book. I think that the beaches on the Florida gulf coast at Fort Walton are the most beautiful so we had to compare. It was actually comprable to the beauty in Florida and we sat on the beach and enjoyed watching the huge waves that were a resutlt of the storms that had been coming through. The water on the East Coast is way too cold for swimming. Florida is better in that aspect.
The trip would not be complete without at least one thing going wrong, and it happened at the airport. We had booked the trip through Expedia. We flew into LaGuardia and had rented a car there too. We returned the car to LaGuardia and went to check in only to realize that we were flying out of JFK ariport instead! Not good! There were two flights that were leaving at the time we were there so a really nice check-in lady put us on standby and we did get a seat on the flight and were able to go home. The seats were not together though, so I spent the four hour flight staring at the back of Neil's head! Bummer!

We had a bad plane experience as well...on our way back from Ohio a few Christmases back, we were the last to board the plane. I had Courtney as a "lap child" and the only seat left was between two very large men. About 20 minutes into the hour long flight Courtney loaded her diaper. Yeah, have you ever seen a changing area on an airplane. They don't exist!

Sounds like a fun trip. I enjoy the NE and the lobster sandwich made me hungry!
